Step 2 - Use of Templates

There are 3 sources of templates available to help you with your web project:

1. Dreamweaver templates

Dreamweaver provides basic webpage layouts which can be tailored to your specific design ideas in Dreamweaver. The advantage of these templates is that they are readily available in Dreamweaver, and easily manipulated to conform with your website design. The disadvantage is that they are very basic, and require a lot of editing before being appropriate to be published to the world wide web.

2. Downloadable templates

A number of websites offer free downloadable templates. These are free to download and edit and then publish as your own website. The owners of the design ask only that you include a link to their own website at the bottom of your website's homepage. The advantage of this type of template is that they are often very attractive designs, developed by web professionals, and are free to download and use.

3. Web host templates

Most web hosting companies offer free web creator programs which can generate a webpage automatically, requiring you to simply enter some basic details e.g. page titles. You should note that the quality of the webpages prepared in this way can vary dramatically from web host to web host, as can the required amount of work required on your part. We recommend One.com who offer a wide range of professional looking webpage designs, at a very attractive price.
