Kristi Komel

Kristi Komel is a textile designer who integrates local stories and sustainable thinking into her work. She is passionate about exploring new materials, finishing techniques, and reviving traditional crafts. She completed her bachelor's and master's studies at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Engineering, University of Ljubljana. During a study exchange, she studied at the Swedish School of Textiles at the University of Borås in Sweden. There, she reconnected with weaving, which has become one of her favorite textile techniques and a key element in her projects. Her work has been exhibited both in Slovenia and internationally, earning her several awards, including the Faculty Prešeren Award (2022, group project), the BigSEE Award for Perspectives (2023), and the DOS Daljnogled Award (2024).
